I'm pregnant!

Well, I'm now nearly 14 weeks pregnant, which is why I've not updated this blog. I wanted to wait until the first scan to make sure everything was OK and it is!

Turns out that this happened naturally, no need for private fertility treatment as the consultant told us. The risk of miscarriage is slightly higher when you have PCOS which is why I wanted to wait before posting the good news. Just shows what a healthier diet, a bit more exercise and reflexology can do!

So all I can say to anyone trying to conceive with PCOS is don't give up.

Baby Sitting up for the first time

First Time Baby is sitting up by herself. 6 and a half months old and she is sitting by herself for quite a while now. Occasionally she does fall over and you have to prop her up again, because she can't actually do the sitting up part herself yet, but we're getting there! read more »

I will blog more... I will blog more...

Ok, I know I have been very quiet recently on the first time dad blogging front. I'm sorry. You see the whole problem is in fact the inspiration for this blog. Yes... you see, first time mum and I have been quite busy erm... being first time parents. read more »

PCOS update

I had another appointment with my consultant yesterday. It didn't go too well as it doesn't seem that the Metformin had much effect. On top of that I need to have further surgery so myself and my husband have decided to stop trying to conceive until that's over. The consultant completely agreed with our decision but then started talking about referring us to a private fertility expert after the operation as I'm a 'complex case'. He also talked about trying ovarian drilling if I can get my BMI down. read more »

Small blip in my fight against PCOS

After all the festivities I thought I'd update my blog entries. Unfortunately it's been 7 weeks since my last period, which has come as a bit of a blow as I thought that I was finally back on track. As we're still trying to conceive, of course I did a pregnancy test but it was negative.

I've looked back on the last few weeks and have realised that I've been eating a lot more sugar and refined carbs during the festive period than I had been and have not been exercising much due to the minor surgery I had in November. read more »

Once more I'm sitting on a train on my way home. I think I must spend most of my life sitting on a train, although at least it allows me to get some work done, or to sleep! read more »

Doing well so far

Brilliant, period number 2 has now arrived! It looks like the combination of healthy eating, exercising and Metformin is working. I was really surprised as it had been 5 weeks since my last period and I really didn't expect this to happen yet. Looks like all the hard work is paying off then. read more »

Leaving your baby whilst away on Business

passport

Well I'm sitting on the Eurostar, whizzing my way across, or rather, under the channel on my way to a conference in Brussels. My wife and baby, however, are still back in Blighty, back the other side, the garden of England side of the tunnel. I miss them both already. read more »

Provera worked!

Well, the Provera did work after all. Just had to be patient and wait for 8 days after taking the last tablet.

I'd forgotten to ask my consultant how long it would take to work and when I looked on the internet it ranged from 2 days to 10 days. One site even said that it has been known to take 60 days!

For once in my life I'm not complaining about it being 'the time of the month'.

I've increased my intake of Metformin from one tablet to two a day. So far it seems to be going well with only very little of the side effects so fingers crossed!
