Once more I'm sitting on a train on my way home. I think I must spend most of my life sitting on a train, although at least it allows me to get some work done, or to sleep!
Sleep becomes a very important commodity when you have a baby. You need lots of sleep to cope with the non-stop attention you need when baby is awake. Baby needs lots of sleep to cope with growing. Mum needs lots of sleep for repair, to heal, and because she is on call for feeding at any given time. But despite all this, Baby likes to sleep when you can't, and to be awake when you get a chance to sleep. Maybe it's a power thing, maybe baby is establishing the hierarchy from a young age?
First-Time-Baby is a gifted child. I'm duty bound to say that, it's in the Parent Manual! Every parent has to think their baby is gifted. But seriously, no joking, no parental bias*... First-Time-Baby is gifted, advanced, wonderful! (*OK, maybe some bias). First-Time-Baby is now standing with support, trying to talk, starting to hold items, and teething!
Last night we finally got to bed at 02:30. First-Time-Baby was so upset. Poor little button is teething, her gums hurt, it looks like all her teeth are trying to come through at once, she can't communicate other than screaming and pulling faces, and she is only eleven weeks old! That's not fair, is it?
So I woke at 09:05 today, 5 minutes after I should have been in the office and 3 hours after the alarm clock should have woken me from my deep slumber. Made it into the office for 12:00. Still, worked on the train, and at least all my teeth are in, in fact the wisdom ones have been and gone!
